Position Overview:
The Communications Specialist works under the leadership of the Communications Manager to refine and implement the comprehensive communications strategy to ensure consistent use of messaging and a powerful visual identity for the organization across a wide range of media with the goal of elevating Seedco’s and Seedco Financial Services’ profile among key audiences. This position leads independent projects in communications, public relations, online media, and marketing including specific efforts such as publications, marketing materials, public presentations, media relations, graphics, web-based media, and public information.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and distribute print and Web publications to reach internal and external partners, funders and stakeholders, while ensuring and developing consistent usage of strong messaging and powerful visual identity for the organizations
- Coordinate with graphic designers, Web developers, public relations consultants and printers
- Maintain accuracy and develop strategy and design of corporate and program Web features with consultant
- Research and recommend improvements to current operations regarding e-mail marketing, fundraising, social media and other public outreach
- Work with program staff to identify opportunities for corporate and local media placement
- Develop talking points for senior staff media and event appearances
- Assist in the coordination of press and community events
- Manage client profiles database for press and internal marketing usage
- Manage and administer updates to the contacts database
- Track media placements and social media outlets
- Research and competitive analysis
- Maintain print and digital library/archive
- Develop and implement trainings for staff
- Prepare and oversee department contracts and invoices
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Communications, Journalism, or Marketing and a minimum of 2 years experience in Communications or Public Relations is required;
- Experience in a non profit setting preferred;
- Must possess the ability to write about complex issues in clear, accessible style, and strong editing skills;
- Excellent oral communications and presentation skills are required;
- Interest in applying existing and emerging communications technologies and strategies is needed;
- Must have strong analytic skills; and
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Compensation:
Salary is commensurate with experience. Full benefits package is offered.
