Other Assistance
The September 11th attack on the World Trade Center had a severe impact on Lower Manhattan's 14,000-plus businesses
and their 370,000 employees. Area retailers and service businesses were devastated by a significant loss in foot
traffic and client base.
Seedco's experience assisting struggling businesses in Lower Manhattan has shown that the combined impact of
complementary forms of assistance significantly improves a small business' long-term sustainability.
From October 2001 to June 2004, Seedco provided the following aid packages:
- Grants - to help offset the physical losses directly attributable to September 11th.
- Low-interest loans - to help bridge a small business's finances.
- Wage subsidies - offered through Seedco's partner organization EarnFair® LLC, to prevent layoffs.
- Technical assistance - to help cope with the disaster and plan for an uncertain future.
