Dr. George Pruitt Named Chair of Seedco Board of Directors
President of Thomas Edison State College to Lead Board of Innovative National Nonprofit

Dr. George A. Pruitt, the longtime president of Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, N.J., has been named the new chairman of the board of directors of Seedco, the nonprofit announced today.
Dr. Pruitt succeeds outgoing chair Stanley Brezenoff, the president of Continuum Health Partners Inc., who will remain on Seedco’s board.
Seedco is a national nonprofit based in New York that helps low-income people and communities move toward economic prosperity through a variety of programs and initiatives. Seedco focuses on a range of projects related to workforce development and invests in a variety of community development projects through its subsidiary Seedco Financial.
“We are pleased that George Pruitt has taken on the role of board chairman,” said Diane Baillargeon, Seedco’s president and CEO. “He has a wealth of experience as a longtime member of our board and he has been a staunch champion for finding more effective ways to create economic opportunities for struggling families and communities.”
Dr. Pruitt has served as president of Thomas Edison State College since 1982. The college provides flexible, high-quality, collegiate learning opportunities for adults and offers degree and certificate programs in more than 100 areas of study. He has been a member of the Seedco board since 1990.
“I truly believe that Seedco is one of the most effective organizations of its kind in the country, and I’m proud to become the new chair,” Dr. Pruitt said. “We have a committed board and one of the most talented staffs I have ever seen, and I’m confident Seedco will continue to be successful in its important mission of generating economic opportunities for disadvantaged communities.”
Seedco also announced that Robert P. Giloth, director of family economic success at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, is joining the board. Giloth is a national expert on workforce development and other issues related to improving economic opportunities for families.
