Young adults between 16-24 years old experience high unemployment: 20 percent nationally. The employment outlook is especially bleak for young adults from low-income homes.
Career Pathways is a New York State-funded program that provides low-income young adults and public assistance recipients with educational and training credentials necessary to compete for careers in four high-growth sectors: 1) construction, 2) building maintenance, 3) retail, and 4) healthcare. Seedco manages the program in New York City through our network of community-based partners.
Almost half of Seedco’s Career Pathways participants are young adults. Since 2009, Career Pathways participants have earned over 400 job and education credentials and Seedco has placed more than 125 young adults into jobs that pay living wages.
