Seedco selected as Strategic Partner in Maryland’s New Affordable Care Act Insurance Exchange

The Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (MHBE) announced on April 25th that Seedco will serve as one of six connector organizations and provide consumer assistance and health insurance enrollment resources to individuals and small employers in Harford, Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, Caroline and Dorchester counties.

Seedco will receive an anticipated $2 million in grant funding to provide education, outreach, eligibility and enrollment services for the nearly 50,000 uninsured residents in the counties it serves. It will employ a workforce of 25 navigators and assisters who will focus on hard-to-reach populations. Trained and certified navigators will counsel and enroll residents into qualified health plans and Medicaid through Maryland Health Connection, the state-based insurance marketplace scheduled to open on October 1, 2013.

Summary:

Seedco has facilitated benefits access to thousands of Baltimore-area residents since 2006.  Through its intermediary model, Seedco serves as the bridge between government entities, funders and community-based organizations that serve clients. Seedco manages network performance in several key ways, including: marketing, partnership development, data tracking and reporting, and complex grants management.  Seedco began expanding its range of services in the greater metropolitan area and hopes to reach more Maryland residents in the upcoming months!
