Seedco is a national nonprofit organization that advances economic opportunity for people, businesses, and communities in need. Seedco’s Career Advancement, Retention, and Empowerment (CARE) program provides critical on-site resource ‘navigator’ services to support primarily entry-level, low-wage employees in NYC. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, CARE has shifted to provide immediate supports and referrals to employees who have been furloughed, laid off, and/or are transitioning back into employment. CARE works with participants to identify passionately-held goals and support their efforts to overcome barriers that may inhibit personal, professional, and financial success.


The program manager is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the CARE program including program operations, supervising administrative and direct service staff, business outreach and partnership building, and managing partnerships with vendors and employer partners. A key aspect of the position will be working with senior leadership to launch an Employer Resource Network (ERN) for New York City. Please review this document ( for more information on ERNs.


CARE and the eventual ERN are new and developing initiatives and as Seedco plans to launch this model of employee supportive programming, Seedco is looking for a program manager that can assist in strategizing around the program’s growth and adjusting to meet the needs of an evolving program. The program manager will be responsible for providing strengths-based, forward-thinking coaching to CARE participants and employees at partner employers as the program recruits new staff. Some of the program manager’s time may be assigned to support other projects as needed.

Program Management & Supervision

  1. Responsible for program planning, organizing, operating, and staffing in collaboration with the senior director
  2. Supervise assigned staff working closely with them to strengthen programming and streamline processes across programs.
  3. Measure performance and improve quality of services
  4. Identify and implement best practices
  5. Create ongoing opportunities for all staff members to provide feedback on program operations
  6. Inform the senior director of program challenges, changes, and accomplishments.
  7. Implement or utilize existing data collection systems to streamline reporting on outputs and outcomes in all program areas
  8. Coordinate with operations team members to complete administrative tasks
  9. Develop and/or revise programmatic marketing materials for key stakeholders
  10. Present lessons learned and best practices at local learning community events and at regional workforce and economic development conferences

Community Partnerships and Employer Engagement

  1. Develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with service providers (specifically vocational training providers, partners offering services beyond CARE’s scope, and potential referral sources)
  2. Represent the organization at private and public functions as needed
  3. Develop and maintain business/employer outreach and engagement plans

Direct Service

  1. Provide one-on-one career and financial coaching to employees at partner employers as needed to support direct service team members
  2. Maintain up-to-date knowledge on youth development principles, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and financial empowerment
  3. Use predictive analytics assessments (PathwayU), employer interviews, and occupational labor market information to help employees navigate career pathways
  4. Develop and maintain strong partnerships with local and national social service providers

Additional responsibilities as assigned



    1. Education, training, and experience in nonprofit, workforce development, social service, public sector jobs, and/or related fields. A combination of education and experience equivalent to the following qualifications may be accepted, please demonstrate how your background prepares you for this position in your cover letter.
      • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience including (minimum of 2 years leading individual projects AND minimum of 2 years of management/supervisory experience)
      • A Bachelor’s and/or graduate degree in social work, public administration, or a similar field
    2. Strong verbal and written communication skills
    3. Team player with superior client skills as well as capacity to engage in critical thinking and analysis of programs and service delivery
    4. Ability to adjust to the diverse needs of clients and staff
    5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
    6. Experience providing career coaching and job readiness support
    7. Training in financial coaching (if no past training, must complete training within the first 3 months of employment)
    8. Flexible to the changing and often immediate needs of participants and employers
    9. Flexible to the shifting requirements of the program as it grows and changes and a willingness to take on extra responsibility to support the needs of a small team
    10. Skills should include demonstrated leadership ability, problem solving, data analysis, personnel management, and strong interpersonal skills.



This position requires regular travel around New York City and the ability to work in standard office conditions.
