Access Free or Low-Cost Health Insurance
Starting in 2019, The Eastern Shore Area Health Education Center (ESAHEC), Seedco, and Chesapeake Multi-Cultural Resource Center are joining resources to enroll and retain eligible children in Medicaid and the Maryland Children’s Health Insurance Program (MCHP). This program is made possible by The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and targets 13 predominantly rural counties on the Eastern Shore and in Southern Maryland. Enrollment Counselors, certified by the Maryland Health Connection, will work within the communities to inform families of the availability of free or low-cost health coverage under Medicaid and MCHP.
Working with schools, faith-based organizations, children’s service providers, health care providers, and community resources organizations, Enrollment Counselors will develop partnerships and participate in events to distribute information about the program and provide enrollment opportunities.
Connecting with school counselors, behavioral health providers, community leaders, parents, and agencies, we are informing a diverse group of stakeholders in the importance and availability of health insurance for children, much of which is available at little to no cost in Maryland.
Throughout 13 counties in Maryland’s Upper Eastern Shore and Southern regions, children and their families will have access to enrollment assistance at numerous locations that are accessible to rural communities. Please join us in bringing health insurance to children in Maryland.
