Seedco in New York

Seedco began in New York City, and the city has been home to Seedco’s widest range of programs. We serve populations that are disconnected from opportunity and resources, especially low-income communities. We seek to enhance access to benefits, family supports, and job training, working closely with a network of community-based organizations. Local partnerships expand service capacity in low-income, high-need communities and build upon Seedco’s affiliation with the Acacia Network, which has been rooted in New York City since 1969.

Career Advancement, Retention, and Empowerment (CARE)

Since 2014, Seedco has worked with young adults ages 18-24 in New York City through the Youth Advancing in the Workplace (YAW) program to enter the workforce world, become more independent, and plan for their futures. Through this work, Seedco has identified the benefit of supporting employers by being a resource for their employees including reducing the costs associated with turnover.

Out of YAW, Seedco has developed the Career Advancement, Retention, and Empowerment or CARE program. CARE provides support and resource to employees, jobseekers, and employers by taking a dual approach.

1. Seedco partners with employers to help their employees overcome challenges to staying in their jobs and becoming more engaged at work.

2. Seedco partners with workforce development and other social service programs to assist young adult job seekers find, sustain, and advance in employment.
