Mark Romaninsky, leader of Seedco’s health insurance programs in Maryland, spoke at a community forum held by Maryland Health Connection (MHC), the state’s insurance marketplace, on May 14.

More than 16,400 southern Maryland residents lack health insurance coverage, and rising out-of-pocket costs and a lack of options in the region could be discouraging many of them from seeking coverage. Many such individuals are likely eligible for Medicaid or tax credits that make health insurance coverage more affordable. The MHC forum sought to improve education and outreach strategies that reach such individuals.

Mark spoke about how Seedco’s Navigators succeed in enrolling people in coverage – by listening to people’s concerns and presenting options that work for them, providing Spanish language assistance, and reaching rural populations.
