- Seedco Receives Grant to Expand Benefits Screenings at Atlanta Community Colleges, Child Care Centers, October 2011
A three-year, $260,000 challenge grant will enable Seedco provide more benefits screenings to community college students and child care workers in the Atlanta area through its EarnBenefits® initiative.
Summary:
Seedco serves low-income residents of the 13 Metro Atlanta area and Savannah through a network of 18 community-based organizations in 20 sites. Our network of community-based organizations in Atlanta includes: The Asian American Resource Center; The Society for St. Vincent de Paul – Atlanta; The Sullivan Center; Greater Deliverance Baptist Church; YMCA; Single Parent Alliance and Resource Center (SPARC); Sheltering Arms; Atlanta Workforce Development Agency; The Center for Working Families, Inc.; Partnership for Community Action; The Boat People SOS Inc. (BPSOS); Whitefoord Community Project and, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Inc.
The Atlanta office of Seedco was founded in 2006 and is located at the Dunbar Neighborhood Center. It includes a staff of four who assist community partners with benefits access and housing counseling, conduct benefits screenings, and participate in efforts to improve access to work supports. In December 2010, Seedco expanded its screening and benefits technology services to Savannah; through our partnership with United Way of the Coastal Empire, the EarnBenefits program is administered at five community-based organizations.
